<h2>Lake Windermere</h2> 
As England’s largest lake, Lake Windermere is a popular location for fishing, boating and watersports. The first port of call for many visitors to the Lakes is the small but thriving town of Bowness-on-Windermere, which offers a variety of things to do and a great selection of places to eat and drink. <h2>Grizedale Forest</h2> 
Located between Coniston and Windermere, Grizedale Forest is often called the heart of the Lake District. This huge forest is well worth a visit and offers a huge selection of activities, suitable for visitors of all ages and varying degrees of fitness. <h2>Lowther Castle and Gardens</h2> 
A trip to Lowther Castle and Gardens, just a few miles south of Penrith, is sure to be a memorable day out. This site was occupied by the Lowther family since 1150, and numerous buildings came and went over the years. The last was a stunning 19th-century Gothic Revival building, which fell into disrepair and was partially dismantled in 1957. The building is now a romantic ruin, albeit one that has been well preserved in the years since. 
Visitors have been able to explore this impressive site and its 130 acres of gardens, since it opened to the public in 2012, and learned more about its fascinating history in the exhibition space. There is also a large adventure playground for children within the woodlands, as well as cycle hire and trails, and great walking along the 7.5-mile Lowther Castle Loop.

<h2>1954 Mercedes-Benz W196</h2> 
Produced for the 1954 and 1955 F1 seasons, the Mercedes Benz W196 featured an eight-cylinder in-line engine, desmodromic valves, and mechanical direct fuel injection – a principle adapted from a World War Two fighter jet. <h2>1936 Mercedes-Benz 540K Special Roadster</h2> 
A decade on from the inception of the Mercedes Benz brand, the vehicle manufacturer had firmly established itself at the pinnacle of luxury automobiles, highly sought after by the wealthiest and noble in society. As such, a custom version of the 540K was commissioned by Baroness Josephine von Krieger in the 1930s as a graduation present for her son. The high-door, long-tailed custom model featured sports pigskin upholstery and a Telefunken radio, with a sleek black exterior and von Krieger family crest hand-painted on the driver's door. Baroness Josphine mainly used the car herself until the family relocated to the US after World War Two, and the vehicle sat unused in a garage for 40 years. The elegant one-of-a-kind was later expertly restored and sold for an astounding $11.77 million at the Gooding &amp; Company's Pebble Beach Auction in August 2012, marking its position as the third most expensive Mercedes car in history.

<h2>2011 Mercedes Benz SLR McLaren 999 Red Gold Dream</h2> 
In 2009, Swiss designer and businessman, Ueli Anliker, set out to transform his McLaren Mercedes SLR into the ‘perfect’ SLR in an extravagant makeover on a level never seen before or since. His ‘999 Red Gold Dream’ was customised with no less than $5.4m worth of materials in 2011, including 24-karat gold plating on the wheels, steering wheel, headlight surrounds and parts of the interior trim, and 600 rubies bejewelling parts including the wheel nuts, gear shift, and indicators. No expense was spared on the car’s bodywork either, with 11 pounds of gold dust mixed into the 15 layers of paint. Not just content with the opulent additions to the car’s aesthetic, Anliker also set out to boost the car’s 5.4-litre engine, increasing its standard 640bhp to 999bhp to achieve a maximum speed of 210mph. The result took a team of 35 people over 30,000 hours to achieve, and as an extravagant symbol of wealth, indulgence, and opulence, its $11 million price tag is perhaps not surprising.

<h2>1937 Mercedes-Benz 540K Special Roadster</h2>

<h2>Holy Trinity Church</h2> 
The Holy Trinity Church is one of Sussex’s most precious treasures, as the Grade I-listed building is one of the county’s oldest structures. 
The Holy Trinity Church is perched on the site of a Roman basilica. Its Roman beginnings are manifested in its unique architecture and the surrounding Roman ruins. Notwithstanding the Roman roots, many historians associate the church with the advent of Christianity in Sussex. As such, the origin story of the Holy Trinity Church remains cloudy. 
Built with ashlar stone, the humble church bears tiled roofs and a shingled spire. The lower portion of the church, such as the chancel, sacristy, and the lower chunk of the tower, are typical Saxon structures that were included in the 12th and 13th centuries. 
A small coffin was unearthed near the chancel in the 19th century, which turned out to be that of King Cnut’s eight-year-old daughter. Later in 1954, a few workmen found another coffin near the chancel, which is speculated to be the remains of Harold II, the last crowned Anglo-Saxon king of England.

<h2>Fishbourne Roman Palace</h2> 
A ten-minute car ride from Bosham will take visitors to Britain’s biggest Roman residence, located in Fishbourne. 
An accidental unearthing of a handful of Roman mosaics in 1960 led to the brick-by-brick discovery of one of the most extensive Roman remains. The remains are of a handsome, palatial Roman palace, complete with 100 rooms. Most of the rooms were decked out in intricate Roman mosaics, which are believed to be some of the oldest in Britain. Merely 20 mosaics from the trove survived to see the light of modern civilisation. 
There is no concrete evidence regarding the owner of this palace. Most historians speculate that Cogidubnus, a quasi-mythical British ally of the Romans, lived in the palace. While it was destroyed in the fire of 275 AD, it is believed that Romano-British squatters took over the ruins for the next few centuries. 
A museum has been erected on the site, preserving the mosaics. The palace garden has also been recreated, ablooming with plants that are believed to have existed during Roman times.

<h2>Chichester Cathedral</h2> 
Dating to 1075, the Chichester Cathedral has been described by Ian Nairn as “the most typical English cathedral.” 
The Chichester Cathedral was built to become the seat of the bishop, replacing the Selsey Abbey that was founded in 681. It was consecrated in 1108 by Bishop Ralph Luffa. It was originally a Norman construction, but several fires and calamities necessitated rebuilding ventures and additions, thus weaving in English Gothic and Romanesque styles. 
It was originally built with stone from the Quarr on the Isle of Wight. The cathedral is lavished with rare mediaeval sculptures, stained glass, and tapestries. One of its most unique features is its free-standing mediaeval bell tower, which is used to this day by church officials who have to climb 84 steps to reach the bell. It is also the only English cathedral to have French-inspired double aisles.&nbsp; 
The Chichester Cathedral is also adorned with majestic Tudor paintings, which have been hailed as “valuable examples of propaganda painting from the era.”
