That’s the substance, which is packing a real punch, but the style is impressive too – simple but sleek, as per the mid-century zeitgeist – especially at this mid-range price point.

<h2>TAG HEUER CARRERA SKIPPER</h2> 
This is a stonewall classic reissue from the renowned Swiss luxury watchmaker, long known for their pioneering contributions to horology. The brand was founded all the way back in 1860 by Edouard Heuer, and was responsible for introducing many significant technological advancements, such as the first dashboard chronograph for cars and aeroplanes in 191. Carrera Skipper was first launched in 1963 and was named after the dangerous Carrera Panamericana auto race. Sticking with the clean, easy-to-read dial, its long-awaited newly-updated model also has a panorama-like Glassbox design and the TH20 06 calibre emphasises a case that is on the smaller side, really showcasing the dial aesthetic. The colour palette pops: minty green, tangy orange, regatta-tricolour. Nautical, and very nice. This watch is water-resistant to 100 metres and offers an 80-hour power reserve.

<h2>LONGINES AVIATION BIGEYE&nbsp;</h2> 
This is a beautiful timepiece, pure and simple. The large, luminous Arabic numerals look sumptuous laid over the midnight blue dial colour, and it's wonderfully legible. But it’s the asymmetric dial layout that really sets it apart: massively characterful, the oversized 30-minute sub-dial at 3 o'clock duly gives the watch its name – and its X-factor. As you’d expect, though the design is vintage-inspired – this is a reissue of a 1930s aviation chronograph, retaining many of its original features – the functionality is ultra-modern, incorporating a litany of contemporary enhancements. The case is 41mm in diameter and 14.3mm thick: substantial, yet wearable for most wrist sizes. One notable feature, or lack thereof, is the absence of a date window. Many wearers enjoy this lack of clutter on the face.

Like most of Lamborghini models, another limited run – they made only 13 of the Venenos, nine of which were Roadsters while the remaining four were Coupes. Lamborghini offered the Veneno at a price of $4.5 million but the supercar most likely sold for much more. The body is made with aircraft-grade carbon fibre, with aluminium front and rear subframes contributing to its lightweight feel. Lamborghini actually used components designed for the race-track on the car in a fitting partnership between the vehicle and the ultimate surface to drive it on.

Like A.Lange &amp; Söhne, Glashütte Original hails from the famous watchmaking town of Glashütte. It currently offers five collections, Senator, Pano, Spezialist, Vintage, and Ladies. <h2>Sinn Spezialuhren</h2> 
Those looking for a watch capable of dealing with extreme conditions may want to consider a Sinn Spezialuhren. The brand manufactures its mechanical and quartz wristwatches in Frankfurt am Main. It was founded by pilot Helmut Sinn in 1961 and has built a reputation with adventurers, pilots, divers, and more. 
Its watches have been on some notable individuals' wrists at significant times. The company’s website points out that Robert Alan Eustace wore an 857 UTC TESTAF when he broke the altitude record by parachuting from the stratosphere, and Reinhard Furrer, the German physicist, wore a 140 S during the Spacelab D1 mission.

Nomos Glashütte, founded in 1990 by Roland Schwertner, is known for favouring more minimalist designs than other Glashütte watchmakers. Junghans was founded by Erhard Junghans and brother-in-law Jakob Zeller-Tobler in 1861 in Schramberg. By the early 1900s, Junghans had become the world’s biggest clock manufacturer. It started producing wristwatches in the 1920s, in line with growing demand. By the time of its 100th anniversary, it was making 20,000 timepieces a day and exporting them to 100 countries. 
Today, the brand remains hugely popular. It makes more than three million watches annually and employs 3,000 people. While much has changed since its early years, the company’s philosophy remains the same. Junghans states its watches are “characterised by meticulousness, skilled craftsmanship, and creative nuance”.

This classic card, featuring Babe Ruth swinging a baseball bat, sold for $4.2 million in 2021. The card itself is almost 90 years old and is part of a very small handful of cards graded as a 9 by the Professional Sports Authenticator. Babe Ruth, known as “The Bambino” and “The Sultan of Swat,” was an American baseball player, who played primarily for the New York Yankees. He had a record breaking 714 career home runs and he is an enduring icon in sports history. Sotheby’s placed it in the “pantheon” of sports cards.

<h2>1952 Topps Mickey Mantle #311</h2>

These cards were once dumped by the case into the Atlantic Ocean due to overproduction and lack of demand. In the 1960s, Topps had far too many unsold 1952 baseball cards and so, to clear warehouse space, Sy Berger, a Topps executive, made the call to dispose of the cards. As a result, these cards are now very valuable as the disposal increased their scarcity. One of these cards, sold by Sotheby’s, eclipsed $4 million, indicating its value to collectors.

<h2>1952 Topps Mickey Mantle #311</h2>

Here we have another Mickey Mantle card. Mickey Mantle, otherwise known as “The Mick,” was an American baseball player for the New York Yankees. He was known for his powerful hitting and his speed, and he won three MVP awards and seven World Series titles. He is a beloved figure in baseball, and this is reflected in the immense popularity of his cards. This card is one of the few PSA 9 cards in the world and, according to Sotheby’s, it sold for $5.2 million to Billionaire Boys Club actor Rob Gough and set a world record.

Sotheby’s report that this card is consistently at the top of sports card sales leader boards. This particular card sold for $6.6 million in 2021 and, at the time, this sale set a record for the highest price achieved for a sports card. Honus Wagner was known as “The Flying Dutchman” and he played for the Pittsburgh Pirates in a career spanning from 1897 to 1917. He won eight batting titles and is considered to be one of the greatest baseball players of all time.

<h2>1914 Baltimore News Babe Ruth Rookie</h2>

At the beginning of his career, Babe Ruth spent several months in the minor leagues, playing for the Baltimore Orioles in his hometown. This period of his career is captured in this card, which sold for $7.2 million in 2023. Sotheby’s writes that Ruth was signed at the age of 19, straight out of high school, by the owner and manager of the Orioles. After playing for this side, he moved to the major leagues with the Red Sox. The sale price of this particular card reflects his enduring impact on the sport.

Here we have a reappearance of Honus Wagner, whose cards, according to Sotheby’s, are among some of the most sought after in the world. They report that there is such fierce competition for Wagner cards that collectors will even pay over $400,000 for damaged and torn cards. This second listing, per Sotheby’s, is exceptionally rare and sold in 2022 for $7.25 million, a record breaking sale.

Here again, this Mickey Mantle card became the most valuable piece of sports memorabilia ever when it sold in 2022 for $12.6 million. According to Sotheby’s, this particular card is “The Finest Known Example” of the SGC’s 9.5 grade. This is an incredibly high-quality card and that is reflected in its market value. There are very few mint condition Mickey Mantle cards, and this has driven up the enthusiasm for those that are in circulation. This unbelievable sale represents a huge shift in the value of the card since its early years, when it was disposed of due to lack of demand and excessive quantities of stock.

According to Sotheby’s, these trainers are exclusive, designed by Virgil Abloh as part of a commission from luxury streetwear brand, Chrome Hearts. The trainers have additional luxury hardware, with branded dubrés, adjustable lace locks, and metallic eyelets. This trainer amplifies the original Off-White design with additions from Chrome Hearts, including text printed on the trainer itself and the hardware noted above. Diamond rings can be traced all the way back to Ancient Rome, where rings were often exchanged as tokens of love and affection. However, diamonds were still relatively rare and expensive all the way through to the Renaissance and subsequent centuries, where they were seen as a symbol of wealth and status and were only really available to the aristocracy and to royalty. It wasn’t until the discovery of diamond mines in Brazil in the eighteenth century (and later in South Africa) that the availability of diamonds increased, and they gradually became more accessible to those in the upper middle classes.

More recently, advancements in technology have made it easier to cut diamonds more precisely, meaning that their brilliance is often enhanced. There have also been increased efforts to ensure that diamonds are sourced ethically and sustainably. Additionally, coloured diamonds, alternative gemstones, and lab-grown diamonds are emerging as popular options and alternatives. However, nothing is more glamorous and alluring than the diamond ring with all its associations with old Hollywood, royalty, and undying love. A diamond, explains the experts at Sotheby’s, is the hardest natural substance on earth. Even so, it still needs regular care to keep it looking the best it can. When you’re out and about living your life the diamond and its fittings can end up coated in a layer of dirt and this can dull its shine. A diamond’s sparkle comes from light shining in through the top and refracting off the bottom of the diamond to one side or the other. Think of how many times you might have moisturised your hands while wearing your ring, how many hands you might have shaken, and how many little everyday tasks you’ve done that have built up on your diamond over time.

Remember, when you are cleaning your ring at home there are certain products you simply must avoid: bleach, chlorine, acetone, and toothpaste. Basically, you want to avoid anything abrasive that might damage the metals in your ring. Try also to use soft brushes rather than anything hard bristled as you do not want to scratch or abrade your ring. Try also to prevent your ring getting too dirty. Remember, you should take off diamond rings before taking a shower as regular soap can cause a layer of film to build up on the jewellery and dull its shine. Try soaking your ring in a supermarket bought cleaning solution while you’re in the shower. Remember too, when you can, to take diamond jewellery off while applying creams to your skin as these too can build up over time. Try also to take your ring off while cooking as certain oils can cause damage and discoloration, which is the very last thing you want after a romantic dinner for two.&nbsp; If you are planning on doing any labour-intensive manual tasks be sure to take your ring off to prevent it from getting damaged.

<h2>Dishwashing soap</h2>

The experts at Sotheby’s explain that this standard household product is actually the quickest way to clean your priceless ring. They advise taking the ring away from the sink drain (you wouldn’t want to drop it!) and swishing it in lukewarm soapy water for a minute or so. While the ring is still wet you should use a soft toothbrush to gently clean underneath the diamond and in the setting. Rinse off with warm water and you are good to go.

Although this trick might be known as an old wives tale it really does work. Fill a shot glass with vodka and place the ring inside (again, you’re going to want to do this somewhere safe) and leave the ring to soak for a number of hours. The ethanol in the alcohol is a natural solvent that will dissolve any dirt that might have fixed itself to your ring. Gently wipe the ring down and rinse and you’ll be amazed at how clean it looks.

The basic nature of baking soda makes it the perfect substance for cleaning jewellery. The experts at Sotheby’s say that its chemical properties are ideal for cleaning hard substances like diamonds and it is also fantastic for cleaning silver and gold jewellery. Mix a little baking soda with some water to form a paste and use a toothbrush to apply it to the ring and scrub gently. Once you have finished (and it is shining brilliantly), rinse the ring under some warm water.

<h2>Windex</h2>

Before you get going with this tip you should note that you must not use bleach-based products on your diamonds. But Windex, according to Sotheby's, is just fine. They suggest taking your diamond ring and soaking it in the cleaning product overnight. Once it has soaked and is cleaned to your liking just rinse it off and it is ready to wear. 
&nbsp; 
These are all simple ways to clean your diamond ring at home, however those at Sotheby’s do recommend taking your ring to your jeweller once every six months so that the jeweller can check the prongs of your ring setting and ensure your diamond is secure. They can also professionally clean the ring using an ultrasound system. These tips are great in between these visits to keep your ring looking as beautiful and as brilliant as ever.
