Newcastle Brown Ale is almost sacred in certain areas of the UK, particularly the North East of England around the city from which it was originally produced. The name lage derives from the German word for “storage,” also providing insight into the brewing process, which involves the beer being kept in cold vats, which it ferments in to produce the signature taste.
