South West London’s Best New Developments

Chelsea Barracks

Situated on Whistler Square, this 15,000-square-foot residence was designed by property developers Squire & Partners. An eight-bedroom property in the Chelsea Barracks development was recently bought by an international buyer for £60 million, making it one of the most significant property deals of 2023. This residential-led development in the heart of Belgravia cost £3 billion to build and was considered the most sustainable in Europe in 2021, becoming one of only 16 developments to boast a platinum certification for green building that year.

Chelsea Barracks offers one to four-bedroom properties, many of which have featured in the Buildington Top 20 most expensive London apartments for sale. The houses and apartment blocks are built around 7 new garden squares, each one designed by renowned landscapers Kim Wilkie and Gustafson Porter. They all add up to create around 5 acres of green space. Other amenities include a pool and public sports facility, a spa, and a play space for children.

River Park Tower, One Nine Elms

Part of the mixed-use development scheme One Nine Elms, River Park Tower, at 57 storeys, is the tallest residential new build in Zone One. Boasting London’s highest roof garden on the 50th floor, the building also houses 334 residences, including one-to three-bedroom apartments as well as a five-bedroom penthouse. The apartments have lateral layouts and open floor plans, with a neutral colour palette that includes soft shades of light brown as well as high-spec inclusions such as underfloor heating.

Each of the residences in River Park Tower has been designed with high-quality, natural materials such as oak flooring and marble surfaces. The kitchens feature oak veneer cabinets with brass handles, complimented by the premium Miele and Siemens appliances. Residents have access to a state-of-the-art fitness suite, complete with a fully equipped gym and exercise studio, alongside a multimedia cinema room and a private bar and lounge on the 50th floor.

DAMAC Tower, Nine Elms

Another tower in the Nine Elms development, DAMAC, is positioned in the heart of new London, where a multi-billion-pound investment is dramatically transforming the local area. Rising 50 storeys, the ultra-modern tower became the first European development by DAMAC Properties as well as a fantastic addition to the London skyline. In an immense feat of engineering, the team working on this project were able to successfully join DAMAC’s north and south towers with a steel sky bridge, creating a roof garden with unrivalled panoramic views of the nearby river Thames.

The tower’s unique architectural composition of stone, terracotta, and glass – as well as stunning interiors designed exclusively by Versace – create an inspiration in premier living. In true Versace fashion, the interiors are adorned with mosaic walls and the signature Greek Key inlay, as well as expansive windows that provide an unobstructed view of the London skyline. Residents enjoy a 20-metre swimming pool, gym, and sauna, as well as a 24-hour concierge service.

Chelsea Waterfront

Designed by internationally renowned architect Sir Terry Farrell, this 4.58-hectare development on the north bank of the Thames is set to be the first of its type in Chelsea for 100 years. The site currently houses the historic former Lots Road Power Station, a Grade II listed building that is set to be not only included in the project but also integrated as a key landmark of this ongoing regeneration. When complete, the scheme will comprise ten buildings spread across 600 metres of unique waterfront living.

The first phase, which was completed in 2019, was made up of four riverside buildings, including the 37-storey Tower West, where 73 prime and super-prime apartments were built. The tower also features a luxurious 6,000 square foot triplex penthouse. Each floor of the tower offers progressively fewer apartments that increase in size, ensuring exclusivity and privacy, with the top floors dedicated to single, expansive units.

Artisan Tower, Wandsworth Mills

A new development by St George in the heart of Wandsworth, Wandsworth Mills blends heritage and modernity, combining high-specification new homes with the area’s Grade II listed buildings, such as the brewery stables block and a beautiful terrace of Georgian townhouses. This seamless integration of history with contemporary design is complemented by acres of sensitively designed landscaping, creating a picturesque, wellness-led neighbourhood.

The Artisan Tower is a 34-storey architectural wonder that houses 166 Manhattan-style one to three-bedroom apartments and sits at the centre of this development. The apartment interiors take inspiration from the area’s weaving heritage, featuring brushed brass and dark bronze fittings as well as fluted cabinetry and other fluted glass elements. Bespoke-fitted kitchens are available in two colour palettes and include composite stone worktops, Miele appliances, and even integrated wine coolers in some select units. There are over 15,000 square feet of residential amenities located in the nearby South West Village, including a fully equipped gym, a library, and a private dining room.
