Opulent Wheels: Four Gold Lamborghinis You Need to Know About

Automobili Lamborghini is synonymous with exoticism, panache, and power. An exemplar of Italian automobile excellence, Lamborghinis are arguably one of the most sought-after luxury sports cars in the world. Indeed, this marque is the ultimate showstopper, be it for an enthralling drive or a memorable presence.

Ferruccio Lamborghini, an eminent automobile entrepreneur, founded Lamborghini in 1963 to compete with Ferrari – the race car brand that was reigning supreme at the time – and the company grew tremendously within the first decade. Notwithstanding the tribulations the brand had to weather – from the relentless change of ownership to the dismal state of affairs during the Great Recession – it is still one of the most exclusive automobile names to date.

Lamborghini has continued to evolve in aesthetics and performance, never ceasing to enrapture autoheads the world over. Few Lambos, however, cloaked in gold and shining resplendently, have immortalised the marque as one of the most coveted yet unattainable in the luxury automobile niche. Read on to unveil four notable gold Lamborghinis and their eye-watering prices.

Lamborghini Aventador LP 700-4

This special Lamborghini Aventador LP 700-4 is the world’s first ever gold-plated Lamborghini. It was built by German engineer Robert Gulpen of RGE Robert Gulpen Engineering. Gulpen was known for making miniatures of cars, and this gold Aventador LP 700-4 has been his most ambitious project to date.

Carved out of a 500kg brick of solid gold, and the seats were encrusted with a total of 1400 diamonds. The wheels were moulded with platinum, and the steering wheel was decked out in pure silver and more diamonds. The gemstones alone on the car were worth $2.6 million.

This gilded Aventador was built at a 1:8 scale, measuring 60 cm. The actual Aventador LP 700-4 is one of Lamborghini’s most formidable makes, fitted with a V12 engine that produces 690 HP, springing the car from 0 to 100 km/h in 2.9 seconds.

Worth $7.5 million, RGE Robert Gulpen Engineering claimed that $650,000 out of its market value would be donated to a charitable cause. It is also the holder of three titles in the Guinness Book of World Records: the most expensive model car,the most luxurious logo, and the most secure showcase.

Matte Gold Lamborghini Aventador Superveloce Roadster

The Lamborghini Aventador Superveloce Roadster is an iconic make from the marque, defined by its sculpted bodywork and raging bull emblem. This sports-oriented set of wheels boasts a power of 750 HP, can sprint from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 2.8 seconds, and can secure a top speed of more than 325 km/h. Only 500 units of this model were ever made.

Empire Auto, a Canadian luxury car dealership, elevated the Aventador Superveloce Roadster by creating an utterly unique unit in matte gold. This classy ride is also furnished with understated yet elegant matte gold interiors, from the steering wheel to the embroidery on the seats. The colossal five-spiked wheels, polished in glossy bronze, are designed to be ultra-lightweight and superfast, kicking the Superveloce Roadster’s performance up a few notches.

While the net worth of Empire Auto’s gold Roadster was never disclosed, a typical Lamborghini Aventador Superveloce Roadster costs about $535,500.

Lamborghini Aventador Roadster Golden Edition 1/1 from Dubai

The Dubai gold edition of the Lamborghini Aventador Roadster is momentous on many counts. It was commissioned by Mr. Jaber Bin Abdallah Al Hmaidi for National Qatar Day in 2015 and is one of the few road Lamborghinis featuring a handsome share of real gold.

This Aventador Roadster is equipped with a 6.5-litre V12 engine generating a total of 692 HP, capable of speeding from 0 to 100 km/h in a mere 2.9 seconds. Dubai-based Maatouk Design was tasked with embellishing the car with real gold, and they delivered a Lamborghini with gold-spiked wheels, a gold-accented console, and gold-hued air intake surrounds and front splitters. The white doors are emblazoned with the Qatar flag and the phrase “National Day.”

The price of this gold Aventador Roadster hasn’t been disclosed to the public, but a standard model costs between $383,000 to $400,000.
