Classic cars - A Perfect Day Out with Your Favourite Ride and Timeless Beauty
Owning a classic car is one of life’s true pleasures and one that is often reserved for the privileged few. Whether you are a collector or an automotive enthusiast, the opportunity to drive a classic or vintage car is always an experience to remember. But where are the best places to visit with your classic car and what road trips are best suited to a day on the open road?
The Perfect Road Trip With Your Classic Car
If you have been dying to hit the open road with your vintage car, here are some ideal routes to consider for a magical day out of London.
The Cotswolds
If you are looking for a day of immense beauty in the English countryside, then a trip to the Cotswolds should definitely be on the cards. This charming enclave of villages is surrounded by green hills and verdant landscapes that make navigating its winding roads a sight to see. It is just over 80 miles from London, so a leisurely drive should take around two to three hours.
There are also endless places to stop for a bite to eat, admire a historic building, take a walk or even to spend the night. Make sure to include some of the most picturesque villages like Bibury, Castle Combe and Stow-on-the-Wold.

The Jurassic Coast
This 95-mile stretch of jagged coastline is an iconic part of Dorset and Devon in Southern England. It is filled with beautiful beaches, coastal pathways and nature walks, so you can be sure to experience a range of beautiful vistas including the dazzling white limestone stacks of Old Harry Rocks.
Take your time over the 125-mile drive and you can be cliffside in under three hours from London. Top spots to include on the day trip are Lulworth Cove and Corfe Castle, with a stop off in Lyme Regis for lunch in a seaside town.

Brecon Beacons
If you have the type of classic car that loves to show off on the motorway, then your next road trip from London should be to the Brecon Beacons in Wales. Easily accessible via the M4, this mountainous landscape is around 180 miles from the city with a drive time of four hours. Make sure to steer your vehicle along the Black Mountain Road (as seen on Top Gear) and with so many villages to stay in, you can spend a few days hiking in the Brecon Beacons National Park and tackling Pen Y Fan, the biggest peak in South Wales and South England.

The Isle of Wight is an exceptional destination with gorgeous beaches, historic sites and superb restaurants. There are endless things to do and see, so this is definitely the type of trip you can make into a full weekend. Don’t miss the dunes of Ryde Beach, The Needles and an unforgettable lunch at The Hut. At around 90 miles from London, with the ferry, you can be there in well under four hours.

Dust off those driving gloves
Given the level of investment, be it time or money, that you put into owning a classic or vintage car, it would be a shame not to take advantage of it. Though you might be inclined to cocoon it in the relative safety of your garage, letting it soar on the roads will be an exhilarating experience from start to finish. So, why not dust off those driving gloves and (if possible) put the top down for a day out of the city that will fuel the soul.
