The palace's present-day appearance is the result of a grand eighteenth-century transformation promoted during the artistic era of Annibale Scotti, a Piacenza aristocrat and ambassador of the Duke of Parma and Piacenza to Madrid, who brought the renowned painter Bartolomeo Rusca to Piacenza to fresco its reception rooms. Stucco decorations and frescoes transform the interiors into elegant spaces for entertaining and social gatherings. Highlights include ceilings reaching up to 7 metres in height, whose extraordinary fresco decorations were rediscovered and restored to view during the 2017 renovation.

The history of the property dates back to the fifteenth century, when it was home to Count Antonio Maria Scotti di Castelbosco. Unlike the rest of the complex, which was reorganised in the eighteenth century, this wing has preserved its historical layers intact, from the cellars below, which conceal traces of Roman-era structures, to the remains of the original small tower.
